Exploring North Carolina was invited to partner with Another Broken Egg Cafe in Concord, North Carolina for a brunch experience, and this is definitely not a basic eggs-and-white-toast kind of breakfast spot.
Located at 2420 Herrons Nest Pl NW #101, Concord, NC 28027, Another Broken Egg Cafe takes familiar Southern breakfast and brunch favorites and gives them an elevated twist with bold flavors, fresh ingredients, creative cocktails, and seasonal dishes.
From Eggs Benedict loaded with steak and hollandaise to a giant Pumpkin Crunch Waffle topped with cheesecake butter, we had a hard time deciding what to order, which is exactly the kind of problem I want to have at brunch!
Another Broken Egg Cafe Brings an Elevated Brunch Experience to Concord, NC
There are plenty of places around Concord where you can grab a traditional breakfast, but Another Broken Egg Cafe feels more like a destination for brunch. The menu is filled with familiar dishes, but there’s almost always something unexpected about them. You’ll find everything from Chicken & Waffles and several different Eggs Benedict options to creative seasonal dishes, brunch cocktails, cold brew drinks, beignets, and Southern sides.
It feels elevated without feeling overly fancy, which makes it a great option for a weekend brunch, family breakfast, date morning, or catching up with friends.
Start With the Brunch Drinks
Before our food even arrived, the drinks had me excited.
If you’re a Bloody Mary fan, the ABE Famous Infused Mary is absolutely worth considering. It’s made with spicy pepper-infused vodka, giving it just enough kick without completely overpowering the drink. And let’s be serious, how am I supposed to turn down a Bloody Mary that comes garnished with perfectly crispy bacon?
My husband ordered the Spiked Caramel Cold Brew, which is basically the perfect drink if you can’t decide whether brunch calls for coffee or a cocktail. He was perfectly happy sitting back, relaxing, and sipping his adult coffee while we waited for our food.
Even the kids’ drinks get a little extra attention here. My daughter’s chocolate milk arrived with chocolate sauce drizzled around the glass and cold foam on top, making something as simple as chocolate milk feel like a special treat.
Don’t Skip the Beignets
Another Broken Egg Cafe also serves beignets, and these are definitely worth ordering. When we visited, new customers could receive a complimentary half order of beignets, which gave us the perfect excuse to start brunch with something sweet. They’re soft, fluffy, and absolutely covered in powdered sugar. And I mean COVERED.
A little word of advice from personal experience: Don’t wear black. The powdered sugar somehow manages to explode everywhere the second you take a bite… which, honestly, is exactly what a good beignet should do.
Steak & Eggs Benedict
This was where choosing my meal became difficult. Whenever I go out to brunch I usually choose Eggs Benedict because it’s not something I can easily make at home.
Another Broken Egg Cafe has several different Eggs Benedict options, including dishes like:
- Bacon & Grilled Tomato Benedict
- Crab Cake Benedict
- Smoked Salmon Benedict
- Hashbrown Benedict
- Seasonal Benedict specials
I eventually chose the seasonal Steak & Eggs Benedict, while my husband ordered the Crab Cake Benedict.
The Steak & Eggs Benedict immediately caught my attention because instead of being served on a traditional English muffin, the eggs, steak, and hollandaise are served over breakfast potatoes. That little change completely made the dish. Once those potatoes soaked up the runny egg yolk and rich hollandaise sauce, they became almost addictive. I’m still thinking about that flavor combination while writing this. The steak made the dish feel hearty enough that it could easily work for breakfast or lunch, while the hollandaise added that rich brunch flavor you expect from a Benedict.
This is easily one of my favorite dishes that we tried.
Crab Cake Benedict
My husband went with the Crab Cake Benedict, another great choice if you’re someone who always gravitates toward seafood. Again, this isn’t your basic breakfast.
The rich crab cake paired with the eggs and hollandaise turns a traditional Eggs Benedict into something that feels much more indulgent. If you’re the person who immediately scans a brunch menu looking for Eggs Benedict, Another Broken Egg Cafe gives you plenty of options.
Pumpkin Crunch Waffle
My daughter may have ordered the most impressive-looking dish at the table. She chose the seasonal Pumpkin Crunch Waffle, and when it arrived, we all stopped for a second.
This waffle is HUGE.
But the size wasn’t even the best part. It is packed with fall flavors but doesn’t go overboard on pumpkin spice. Sometimes seasonal pumpkin dishes taste like someone dumped an entire spice jar into them. This wasn’t like that at all.
The pumpkin flavor was noticeable but balanced, and then they topped the waffle with cheesecake butter and graham cracker crumble. It tastes like fall breakfast and dessert somehow got combined into a single dish. It’s the kind of breakfast that makes me feel like I should be wrapped in a blanket while eating it. I almost wanted to steal hers.
Almost.
But my Steak & Eggs Benedict was too good to give up.
Chicken & Waffles
My son is extremely predictable when we go out for brunch. If Chicken & Waffles are on the menu, that’s what he’s ordering. Every single time. So naturally, that’s what he ordered at Another Broken Egg Cafe. And thankfully, it passed the test.
The crispy chicken paired with the sweet waffle gives you that classic sweet-and-savory combination that makes Chicken & Waffles such a brunch staple. If you’re not feeling adventurous and just want a familiar Southern favorite, this is an easy choice.
Upgrade Your Side to the Loaded Grits
This deserves its own section because I don’t want you to overlook it. If you’re a grits person, upgrade your side to the Loaded Grits. Regular grits are good. These are better.
Another Broken Egg Cafe takes a bowl of creamy grits and adds:
- Gouda cheese
- Green scallions
- Diced tomatoes
- Crumbled bacon
The combination turns a simple breakfast side into something I would happily order on its own. If you’re debating between sides, get the loaded grits.
Is Another Broken Egg Cafe Good for Families?
Although Another Broken Egg Cafe definitely feels like an elevated brunch restaurant, we had no problem bringing the kids. There are plenty of approachable breakfast choices, and fun little touches (like the fancy smancy chocolate milk) that make the experience feel special for younger diners too.
At the same time, adults can enjoy creative brunch cocktails, specialty coffee drinks, Eggs Benedict, seasonal dishes, and some more adventurous menu options. That combination makes it especially nice when you’re dining with a group where everyone wants something different.
What We Would Order Again
There were plenty of winners during our visit, but if I had to narrow down a few recommendations, these would be at the top of my list:
Steak & Eggs Benedict
The breakfast potatoes soaking up the egg yolk and hollandaise made this dish unforgettable.
Pumpkin Crunch Waffle
If you’re visiting while this seasonal dish is available, it’s worth ordering, especially if you love fall pumpkin flavors.
Loaded Grits
Don’t overlook the sides. Gouda, bacon, scallions, and tomatoes take these grits to another level.
ABE Famous Infused Mary
A spicy Bloody Mary with bacon? That’s brunch done right.
Beignets

If you’re trying to decide where to eat brunch in Concord, NC, Another Broken Egg Cafe deserves a spot on your list. This isn’t the place I would choose if all I wanted was two eggs and a piece of toast. It’s where I’d go when I want brunch to feel like an experience.
Between the creative brunch cocktails, seasonal specials, multiple Eggs Benedict options, giant waffles, Southern-inspired dishes, and ridiculously good loaded grits, there are enough interesting choices that I already know I’d have trouble ordering the same thing twice.
Another Broken Egg Cafe takes classic Southern breakfast dishes and gives them just enough of a twist to make brunch feel exciting again.
And if the Steak & Eggs Benedict is still on the menu when you visit?
Get it.
