Cabarrus Back to School Health Fair
On August 7th, 11:30am-2pm at EMS Headquarters, 793 Cabarrus Ave. W, Concord, NC, 28027 is the Cabarrus Back to School Health Fair hosted by Cabarrus DSS. Attendees can check out a bunch of local vendors, get a free lunch provided by Monarch (while supplies last), free school supply giveaway (while supplies last), car seat safety checks, and Walgreens flu clinic will be there.
Songs of the South – Alabama Tribute Band at Swanee Theatre
Do you love the band Alabama? There’s a tribute band playing at the Swanee Theatre in Kannapolis, NC on August 1 at 8pm.
Catch a Cannon Ballers Game and See Fireworks Afterwards!
Every time the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers play a game at home on Friday and Saturday nights, they end it with a fireworks display. The Kannapolis Cannon Ballers are scheduled to play home on these weekends: 7/17, 7/18, 7/31, 8/1, 8/14, 8/15, 9/4, 9/5
Cook Out Monster Truck Bash at Charlotte Motor Speedway
On August 2nd, the dirt-flying fun kicks off early with the Cook Out Pit Party, opening at 5 p.m. Fans who bring a Cook Out cup can enter early at 4:30 p.m. for exclusive access to driver autographs, ride trucks, bounce houses, vendors and more. General admission gates open at 5 p.m., with the show roaring to life at 7 p.m.
Advance tickets are $40 for adults, while children 12 and under get in for only $10! Tickets can be purchased online at www.charlottemotorspeedway.com/tickets.
Pick Sunflowers for $2 each
The sunflowers are in full bloom at The Farm at Dover Vineyards: 3600 Concord Pkwy S, Concord, NC. This is the perfect spot to grab some back to school pictures and explore the sunflower fields while bringing home a vase of fresh flowers to enjoy. They are open Monday-Friday 10a-6pm, Saturday 1p-7p, and Sunday 1p-5p.
🛍 Spend the Day at Gibson Mill
Even if there isn’t a special event happening, Gibson Mill is always one of my favorite weekend recommendations.
You can easily spend several hours:
- Browse hundreds of antique booths at The Depot.
- Play board games at Luck Factory Games.
- Grab lunch inside Gibson Mill Market.
- Visit Cabarrus Brewing Company or High Branch Brewing.
- Finish with dessert before heading home. (Axios)
Melissa’s Tip: This is one of the best rainy-day plans in Cabarrus County.
🚂 Family Fun at Village Park
If you’re looking for something inexpensive, Village Park is hard to beat.
Kids can:
- Ride the train
- Ride the carousel
- Play on the playground
- Cool off in the splash pad (seasonal)
Pair it with dinner in downtown Kannapolis for an easy family evening.
Kids Bowl Free Through October
Stars & Strikes in Concord, NC is part of the Kids Bowl Free program which gives every single kid under the age of 15, 2 free games of bowling every day. But, did you know there’s a family pass that you can add on for about $30 and it allows the adults to join in the fun too! Money saving tip: decline the offer the first time and they’ll offer you a discount code to sign up the adults too.
The deal lasts all the way through the end of October and it’s valid on the weekends…so go bowl for free and have some family fun together!!
