One of my favorite ways to explore a new town is by finding a great local coffee shop.
The best coffee shops aren’t just about what’s in your cup; they’re about the atmosphere, the people, and the feeling you get when you walk through the door. Whether you’re looking for a quiet place to read, somewhere to catch up with a friend, or simply an excuse to treat yourself to a specialty latte, Cabarrus County has some wonderful locally owned cafés worth adding to your list.
As I continue exploring Cabarrus County, I’ll keep updating this guide with new discoveries. But these three coffee shops have already earned a permanent spot on my favorites list.

1. Lia Bakery | Best Coffee & Bakery Combo
If you have a sweet tooth, Lia Bakery in Kannapolis needs to be your first stop.
This Latina-owned bakery serves beautiful handcrafted pastries, cakes, and specialty drinks that make it almost impossible to choose just one thing.
During my visit, the Lemon Blueberry Cake completely stole the show. Light, fresh, and bursting with summer flavor, it was one of those desserts you keep thinking about long after you’ve finished the last bite.
And then there was the Churro Iced Latte.
I wasn’t sure what to expect, but after one sip, I was hooked. The combination of vanilla coffee with just a hint of cinnamon and sugar tastes like a churro in drink form without being overly sweet. Served ice cold, it’s the perfect treat on a warm North Carolina afternoon.
The ambiance is simple elegance with a girly girl feel to it. This is the perfect spot for mother-daughter time.
Why You’ll Love Lia Bakery
- Incredible baked goods made from scratch
- Unique specialty coffee drinks
- Latina-owned local business
- Bright, welcoming atmosphere
- Perfect stop for breakfast or an afternoon treat

2. Veni Vidi Vici | The Coziest Place to Relax
Walking into Veni Vidi Vici feels less like entering a coffee shop and more like visiting your best friend’s house.
Located inside a beautifully renovated old row home in Downtown Kannapolis, this coffee shop is filled with cozy rooms, oversized couches, comfortable chairs, and inviting spaces that encourage you to slow down and stay awhile. It’s the kind of place where conversations linger, books stay open a little longer, and no one seems to be in a hurry.
The owners are some of the friendliest people you’ll meet, creating an atmosphere that instantly makes you feel welcome.
One of my favorite menu items is the S’mores Latte. Rich, chocolatey, and perfectly balanced, it tastes like your favorite campfire dessert in coffee form. And if you have room for a snack, don’t skip the cookies. They’re absolutely enormous and perfect for sharing (if you want to!).

- Relaxed, home-like atmosphere
- Black Owned Local Business
- LGBTQ Friendly

- Friendly owners who make everyone feel welcome

3. Editions Coffee & Bookstore | A Book Lover’s Dream
If Hallmark movies had bookstores, they would probably look something like Editions Coffee & Bookstore. Located in the heart of Downtown Kannapolis, this independent bookstore and café feels like stepping into a cozy small-town story.
Every room is lined with books from floor to ceiling, and around nearly every corner you’ll discover another quiet nook perfect for reading, sipping coffee, or simply slowing down for a while. While every corner is charming, my favorite spot is the fully enclosed wraparound porch.
Large picture windows overlook downtown Kannapolis, making it the perfect place to enjoy your coffee while watching the world go by. Whether you’re reading your newest purchase or chatting with a friend, it’s easy to lose track of time here.
For book lovers, this is more than a coffee shop; it’s an experience.
Why You’ll Love Editions
- Independent bookstore and coffee shop
- Cozy reading nooks throughout the building
- Beautiful enclosed wraparound porch
